Start with the right group or affinity program

Reliable Insurance Brokers has separate savings pages for group and affinity programs. Some customers may fit a union-related program, while others may fit a professional, public service, STEM, hospital worker, government employee or first responder category.

The best starting point is our Group & Affinity Insurance Discounts hub. From there, you can choose the program that applies and start the correct home or auto insurance quote.

Union member savings

Eligible union members may qualify for group savings through the UUEC union savings program, including potential home and auto insurance discounts through participating insurers.

Endless Savings affinity discounts

Eligible STEM professionals, hospital workers, government employees and first responders may qualify for affinity savings through participating insurers.

Reliable broker tip: discounts vary by insurer. A broker can help confirm which program fits, which insurers participate, and how the discount compares with the full policy price and coverage.

For employers, unions, associations and HR leaders

A home and auto insurance group program can be one of the fastest ways to create real value for staff, members or employees without adding payroll cost. It can help your organization increase its value proposition while giving people access to savings they may not be able to find on their own.

Speak with Thomas Smith, Group Program Administrator and President of Reliable Insurance Brokers, to learn whether your employer group, union, association or membership organization may qualify for a sponsored home and auto insurance discount program.

Reliable Insurance Brokers is highly experienced in administering employee home and auto insurance group programs. We can often work to get two, and sometimes three, insurers on board with a group rate for your organization, maximizing your staff or members’ ability to save on insurance.

It starts with a quick underwriting survey.

We usually need a quick 30-minute phone session to complete an underwriting survey and assess whether your organization could apply for a group home and auto insurance program.

Most insurers usually want the group to have at least 500 members or employees. However, exceptions can sometimes be made for organizations with more than 100 members or employees, depending on the profile of the group and insurer appetite.

No cost to your organization

There is usually no cost for the employer, union or association to sponsor the program. The insurance policies are arranged directly between eligible members and the insurer.

No minimum participation

Your organization can make the program available without requiring every employee or member to participate.

No insurance liability for the sponsor

The sponsor is not responsible for individual underwriting, claims, premium payments or insurer decisions. Reliable and the participating insurers administer the insurance process.

Why HR teams like this: it can put money back in employees’ pockets at no cost to the organization, while giving staff or members another valuable benefit to access.

We help market the program to your staff or members

Setting up a group insurance discount program should not become a burden for your HR team, union executive or association administrators. Reliable helps support the rollout and marketing of the program so eligible members know the opportunity exists.

We can help create a simple communication plan, quote links, member-facing messaging, and a clear process for employees or members to request quotes. The goal is to make the program easy for your organization and easy for your people to understand.

Easy rollout

We can help provide clear messaging so employees or members understand who may qualify, how to request a quote and what information they need.

Member education

We can explain that group discounts are only one part of the quote and that coverage, deductibles, endorsements and claims service still matter.

Simple next step: email Thomas Smith at tsmith@reliablebrokers.ca to book a short underwriting survey session and determine whether a participating insurer may be willing to support the group.

Who may qualify for union or professional savings?

Eligibility depends on the program and participating insurer. These are common categories that may be worth reviewing.

Category Potential Path
Union members May be eligible through UUEC Union Savings or another qualifying union-related program.
STEM professionals May be eligible through Endless Savings affinity opportunities, depending on role and insurer participation.
Hospital workers May qualify under certain professional or public service affinity categories.
Municipal, provincial or federal government employees May qualify for Endless Savings affinity opportunities, depending on proof and insurer eligibility.
First responders May qualify for certain affinity savings programs, depending on employment status and participating insurer rules.
Employers, associations and unions May be able to work with Reliable to explore whether a sponsored group insurance program can be established.
Eligibility is not automatic. The insurer may require proof of membership, employment, occupation, association status or group sponsorship before applying a discount.

How much can group members save?

Group and affinity discounts vary by participating insurer. For certain groups, the discount can be as much as 25% off an insurer’s regular rate, depending on the insurer, program, group profile, member eligibility and underwriting.

The final savings depend on more than the group discount. Auto insurance discounts such as multi-vehicle, winter tire, telematics, good driver, clean record and pay-in-full discounts may also apply. Home insurance discounts such as bundle, alarm, water protection, claims-free, mortgage-free and other savings may also affect the final price.

A strong group discount is valuable, but the best result comes from comparing the full policy: final premium, coverage, deductibles, endorsements, exclusions and insurer fit.
